What is Grailfinder?

Grailfinder is a price comparison site for trading cards. It searches 74 independent card shops across Australia and New Zealand at once and shows you every store's price and stock status side by side.

Price Compare does not sell anything and never handles your money. When you find what you want, you go straight to that shop and buy from them directly, at their price.

GrailFinder TCG is an original trading card game played right here on the site, set in Melbourne in 2192, where collectors hunt the Grails of a lost hobby. You choose a Faction, build a Catalog and put your Reputation on the table.

There are 12 Heroes across three Factions: Collectors, who win by building the most valuable collection; Traders, who win by pressure and tempo; and Neutral Heroes, who can mix cards from both. You open packs, collect Relics in different Conditions and printings, and play against the AI, other players, or through guided tutorials and quest lines.

The game is in early access for invited players while the first set is finished.

They are one product. One GrailFinder account signs you in to both, and one subscription pays for both halves: $2.99 a month lifts every cap on Price Compare and turns on price and restock alerts, and in the TCG it adds 500 Scrip, 100 Echoes and 2 Founder's Packs every month.

The subscription also raises how many Catalogs you can save, from 5 to 50. Everything else in the game, including every card, is available without paying.

The game is built around the same hobby Price Compare serves: its world is a future where card collecting became the economy, and the things you care about when buying a real card (rarity, condition, grading, limited print runs) are the things that make a card valuable in the game.

Pick a Hero, then a Catalog: 30 Action cards (Relics, Events, Mods and Trends) and a pile of 10 Energy Cards that power them. Each player starts with 4,000 Reputation.

You win by bringing your opponent's Reputation to zero, or by building your Collection Score Accumulation (CSA) to 100 and holding on through the Showdown that follows. A Scheduled Market opens every few turns, where both players bid on extra cards.

The quickest way in is a guided tutorial from the Exhibition setup screen, and the How to Play page in the game covers every rule and keyword.

Scrip is the game's currency for opening packs. Every account starts with 250, you earn more from quests, and subscribers receive a monthly allowance. Buying Scrip with real money is not available yet.

Echoes let you craft a specific card you want. They are earned from quests and rewards and by deconstructing spare cards, and they can never be bought.

Pick a tab first — Sealed for booster boxes, tins and packs; Singles for individual cards; Accessories for sleeves, binders, toploaders and deck boxes. The tabs matter, because a search for "Charizard" means something very different in each.

Then type what you are after. For a single card, the card number is the most reliable thing you can give us — searching "006/165" finds that exact card far more precisely than the name alone, because most sets have printed a Charizard.

Open the Filters button above the results. You can narrow by price, by store, and by condition — Raw for ungraded cards, Graded for slabs.

In stock only hides anything a shop has sold out of. Out of stock does the opposite, which is the quickest way to check whether something exists at all before you give up on it. The number on the Filters button tells you how many filters are currently applied, so nothing is ever narrowing your results invisibly.

Yes — tap "Multi search" under the tabs, add a few products, and you will get one page comparing all of them across every store. It is the fastest way to price up a want list, or to work out which shop can fill the most of your order in one go.

Every product page shows when we last checked that price. Prices are refreshed from each store regularly, but a shop can change a price or sell the last one at any moment, so always treat the store page as the truth.

We scrape from inside Australia deliberately. Some store platforms serve a different price depending on which country is asking, and a price no Australian customer would ever be shown is worse than no price at all.

A free account gets you a watchlist and saved searches, so you do not have to retype the same hunt every week. The same account opens GrailFinder TCG: you choose a Faction, receive a starter collection and 250 Scrip, and can play Exhibitions, quests and tutorials, open packs and save up to 5 Catalogs.

A paid account adds price-drop and restock alerts by email: you set a target price, and we email you when any of our stores goes below it. In the TCG it adds 500 Scrip, 100 Echoes and 2 Founder's Packs every month, and room for 50 Catalogs. One subscription covers both, and it is what pays for the servers.

Because they are the ones holding this hobby up.

An independent shop takes a real risk on every allocation it orders. They run the prereleases, the locals, the draft nights and the trade tables. They are where most people got their first pack, and where you can actually ask someone a question and get an honest answer. When one of them closes, a local scene usually goes with it.

We also think how a retailer treats collectors matters. Charging people a recurring subscription just for the chance to buy a new set at release is not something we want to send traffic to — access to a hobby should not be a paid tier. The shops on Grailfinder sell to whoever walks in, at the price on the shelf.

So the roster is independents and small chains, and it will stay that way. Every click from here goes to a business run by people who actually collect.

The only things GrailFinder itself sells are the subscription and, in the TCG, packs bought with Scrip. None of that changes what a shop charges you or what we show.
